Krafted in the United States of America
Charles S. Anderson · 2013 · Offset lithograph · French Paper Kraft-Tone promotion
Designed for French Paper Company to launch Kraft Tone, a line of 100% recycled post consumer waste papers. Ornate Victorian style dimensional lettering spells out "Krafted in the United States of America" in rich red and teal, surrounded by folk art botanical flourishes and the French Paper eagle crest. The typography channels nineteenth century wood type and chromolithographic printing while celebrating American manufacturing, French Paper had run its Niles, Michigan mill on 100% hydropower since 1922 and was, at the time, one of the smallest and most independent paper mills left in the country.
Good design is about making connections, between the past and the present, between the handmade and the manufactured.Charles S. Anderson
