An original acrylic painting shared by Duffy upon its completion. The top half renders the Minneapolis skyline seen from the historic riverfront district, with the Stone Arch Bridge and the red Pillsbury A Mill sign unmistakable against a sunset sky. Beneath the bridge, the flowing waters of the Mississippi dissolve into the face of an Indigenous woman, a homage to the region's Native heritage. The land, known natively as Mni Sota Makoce, 'Land Where the Waters Reflect the Skies,' holds immense cultural and spiritual significance to the Dakota people. Warm sunset color and fluid ripples weave the city's industrial history together with the enduring spirit of its original inhabitants.
