Announcement poster for Kit Hinrichs in Chicago, a talk titled The Storyteller's Art held at the Graphic Arts Studio on June 24, 2014. The design is a stack of horizontal slices, each one a fragment of a different Hinrichs project: decorated wood-type letterforms spelling ABC&123, a run of vintage city maps, an oversized eye behind a list of disciplines, a tray of flag-covered campaign buttons, a field of red scribbled circles, the word LOVE cut across weathered concrete, two pocket watches face to face, and a scatter of candy-colored paper clips. A single dark band across the middle holds the type and lets the images do the talking. Read top to bottom it works exactly like the title promises, a career told in pieces, each band a chapter you already half remember.
