A designer's hand, drawn from the city itself. The palm and fingers are cut from San Francisco street maps, neighborhood by neighborhood, Pacific Heights, North Beach, South of Market, Forest Hill, set against a NOAA nautical chart of the Golden Gate and the Pacific. A yellow pencil rests across the palm at the diagonal of Market Street. Hinrichs has spent a career making the mundane graphic language of maps and tools carry meaning.
