Signal Ridge Vineyard
Michael Schwab · c. 2010s · Screen print, edition 83/200
A fire lookout tower stands in silhouette against a dusk-blue sky, four lit windows glowing pale, a hawk circling above the firs. Schwab builds the whole scene from four flats plus a thin coral keyline, then sets the name in his signature wide-tracked serif caps. The lookout doubles as the mark for Signal Ridge, the high Mendocino Ridge vineyard whose fog-line elevation gives the fruit its name. Signed by the artist and numbered 83 of 200 in the lower margin.
I've always considered myself a graphic artist, a draftsman, as opposed to a typist.Michael Schwab
