Paula Scher: East Meets West

Paula Scher · 1992 · Offset lithograph, event poster

Designed for AIGA Los Angeles's Annual Patron Sponsor Night on Wednesday, March 4, 1992, this lecture poster turns Scher's first name into architecture. Four monumental white letters crowd a black field, while the event details occupy a narrow black channel inside the L: reception and patron exhibition at 6:30 p.m., followed by Scher's presentation at 7:30. A single red dot punctuates the composition. The title, East Meets West, frames the newly appointed New York Pentagram partner's appearance before the Los Angeles design community.

It's through mistakes that you actually can grow. You have to get bad in order to get good.Paula Scher
