Arizona Alice: Episode V Teaser

The teaser sheet that announced Episode V of Alice Cooper's Celebrity AM golf tournament before the full campaign broke. Built like a movie one-sheet: 'ARIZONA' in hard red at the top, 'ALICE' behind the figure in a red-to-orange gradient, a gold 'V' for Episode V, and a single black silhouette of Alice in a hat and duster with a club slung across his shoulders, all on a pale desert yellow field cut by a black horizon. 'Coming Spring 2001. The Adventure of the Lost 18.' The imagery came out of another great shoot with photographer James Leland, this time on location at Rawhide, the western town outside Phoenix, where Alice got to play Billy the Kid for a day: long duster, gun belt, golf club instead of a rifle. Leland shot it on instant film and the frames carry their own chewed-up borders and silvery skies, wandering the main street, ducking a porch hatch, standing in the reeds, running for the horizon, squaring up against a saguaro, and finding a desert waterfall. Those negatives fed the whole Arizona Alice series, including the Hatch Show Print letterpress edition. All proceeds benefited Alice Cooper's Solid Rock Foundation.
