In Remembrance: 10th Anniversary

Justin Ahrens designed this poster at Rule29 in 2011 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of September 11. Its tall, quiet architectural planes evoke the void and silhouette of the Twin Towers, while the small red, white, and blue symbol holds the date within its structure: nine stars represent September, eleven divisions mark the day, and two white bars stand for the towers. The line “Honoring the lives of those affected that day” anchors the composition, and the edition is marked 911 of 911. Rule29 created the poster with O'Neil Printing, printed digitally on an HP Digital Press on Domtar paper. The gallery pairs the anniversary poster with Ahrens’ December 2000 photograph of the Twin Towers taken from Liberty Island.
