The Golden Rule

A plain white dinner plate, hand-lettered in black brush script and photographed flat against warm kraft paper. The lettering is unretouched: the 'g' of golden starts over a false start that Victore left in place, and the ink pools where the brush sat on glaze. Placing an ethical instruction on a dish, an object made to be handed to someone else, is the whole joke and the whole point. The generous field of empty paper below turns the plate into a single quiet statement rather than a design exercise. Signed and numbered 21/50.
