James Victore · 1993 · Silkscreen
One word, brushed fast and black, with a red mouth tearing open at its center. Victore self-published the poster and put it up on the street himself, no client and no committee. The letters slur and smear into their own shadow, the ink drag left visible, so the word looks less printed than shouted. The red gash of the mouth swallows the middle of the word and turns reading it into an act of confrontation. It remains one of the clearest arguments for the poster as a personal weapon rather than a commercial surface.
Your work should be a reflection of who you are, not a reflection of what you think people want.James Victore
